Miley Cyrus made headlines after revealing to thousands of fans at the Hollywood Bowl that she believes she received a supernatural message from her late godmother, country music legend Dolly Parton. Cyrus described lighting a candle, placing a flower beside a life-sized mannequin of Dolly Parton, and playing her famous song Jolene. She then asked Dolly to give her a sign by flickering the lights. According to Miley, that’s exactly what happened. But Miley Cyrus is far from the first celebrity to claim some form of communication with the dead. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton made headlines after participating in guided imaginary conversations with the deceased Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi. Actor Austin Butler has spoken about sensing the presence of Elvis Presley, while legendary singer Cher has described mysterious experiences she associates with her late husband Sonny Bono. In fact... even the guy playing Jesus... Jonathan Roumie has talked about otherworldly encounters with spirits that have left this world. From Hollywood celebrities to political leaders, the fascination with communicating with those who have passed away is nothing new. But are these experiences simply the imagination at work? Are they the result of grief and an overwhelming desire to reconnect with someone we’ve lost? Or could there be something genuinely supernatural taking place?
